I’m Kyle Thompson and I’m pleased to join the team of custom home builders at David Reid Homes with my own highly successful construction company. We are now David Reid Homes Brisbane West.
I have built my business on a simple slogan that is well proven:

“The more you give, the more you receive”.

Throughout my 13 years’ experience with business, this seems to be my most successful approach to developing a career, relationships and friendships.

The more you give, the more you receive.
The term, “The more you give, the more you receive” can be interpreted in many ways. A few examples of my understanding are as follows:

If you are a farmer and continue to take produce from the land and not return the nutrients needed it will no long give you the produce anymore;
If you are a fisherman and continue to take the fish from the same place, there will soon be nothing left to take;
If you are a builder, like myself and over charge or you don’t go that extra mile for the client, they will no longer continue business with you;
If you mistreat your pets, they will no longer obey you;
If you under-pay staff and demand longer hours, they will leave you and
If you are a developer and push for more than the agreed and you do not pay that builder accordingly, they will no longer do good work for you or not work with you at all.
This all can be combated simply by giving. I am not saying to go hand over fistfuls of cash to or your employees or not charge that client, I am saying that all you need to do is go that extra mile for them.

Make them someone in your company and pay them extra when you can. Rest your land and replenish the ground and look after your pets. By doing this you are going to surround yourself with people, places, and things that will want to return the favour. In time, you will reap the rewards far greater than the small outlay required.

There will always be people in this world that will continue to take the ignorant way. This only highlights and red flags those people you do not wish to continue to deal with. If you have rejected these people for taking advantage of your efforts, it is fair to assume you are not alone. It is also fair to assume they are not happy people and are not surrounded by happy, fulfilled people.

By going that extra mile and taking that extra step in this world, you will be the one to stand out and the ones that sand out are the ones that are recognized. People remember this and it is amazing just how far a good reference goes. Word of mouth is a powerful tool everybody can use.

So, I challenge you if you want fulfilling and rewarding success you will need to go that extra mile for everybody and everything around you. Business is not easy but the small tax you pay now will open more doors, more opportunities and create more of what you are looking for. To me it is just good business.
